The
Second Meeting of Drafting Group on APSCO Convention was held
in Beijing from 10-12 November 2003. There are 30 participants
from Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Chile, the Republic of Indonesia,
the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia,
Mongolia, Pakistan, Peru, the Philippines, Russian Federation,
Thailand, Ukraine, UNESCAP and UNOOSA.
The Drafting Group adopted and finalized
the Draft APSCO Convention with the amendments it proposed for
incorporation therein, led by Mr. Kraisorn Pornsutee (Thailand),
as Chairperson and Mr. M. Nasim Shah (Pakistan) as a Co-Chairperson.
In order to expedite the institutionalization of APSCO, The
schedule was made by the Drafting Group. As a first step of
the process for establishment of APSCO, this Meeting has achieved
all its goals of Drafting Group of this year.
The AP-MCSTA Secretariat will send copies
of the APSCO Convention, as finalized by the Drafting Group,
to the Asia-Pacific States through diplomatic channel along
with Note Verbale before the 15 December 2003. |
