THE 7TH ASIA-PACIFIC CONFERENCE ON MULTILATERAL COOPERATION IN SPACE TECHNOLOGY AND APPLICATIONS (AP-MCSTA) was held on 22-26 AUGUST 2003, BANGKOK, THAILAND
 
         
    The Seventh Asia-Pacific Conference on Multilateral Cooperation in Space Technology and Applications (APC-MCSTA) under the Theme "Space Technology in the Service of Humankind" was held in Bangkok, Thailand during 22-26 August 2003,hosted by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT), Government of Thailand,. The Conference was based on the Recommendation of the 6th APC-MCSTA held in Beijing, China in September 2001 and was attended by 150 delegates and observers from People's Republic of Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Italy, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, The Philippines, Russia Federation, Thailand, AP-MCSTA Secretariat, Beijing, Japan, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN/ESCAP).
    The Inaugural Ceremony was held on 22 August 2003,.Khunying Dhipavadee Meksawan, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Communication Technology delivered a welcome address. Dr. SUN Laiyan, Vice Administrator, China National Space Administration, delivered a congratulatory speech, and H.E. Surapong Suebwonglee, Minister of Information and Communication Technology, delivered the inaugural address. The keynote speeches were delivered by the heads of Bangladesh, Republic of Korea, Philippines and Thailand.
    The representatives are aware that the essentiality of space cooperation in the Asia Pacific Region, especially among the developing countries, the institutionalization of the AP-MCSTA initiative and the establishment of Asia Pacific Space Cooperation Organization will enhance regional space cooperation.
    The Conference unanimously approved the Recommendations for promoting the progress of AP-MCSTA.
    The keynote speeches were delivered by the heads of the Delegation.
