It is a program designed particularly to offer the government officials, experts and professionals from Asian countries, especially from Central Asian countries whose work and research areas are involved in remote sensing technology and its applications, as well as other related aspects of space technology, an opportunity to advance their knowledge.

In order to achieve this goal, the training course will include four-day academic lectures and one-day technical visits to some remote sensing research and application institutes of Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The academic lectures will concentrate on the following areas: (1) A brief introduction to the status and development of space science, technology and applications; (2) An introduction to remote sensing satellite ground receiving technology; (3) An introduction to earth observation data processing and archiving technology; (4) Remote sensing image processing software and data archiving technology workshop; (5) Applications of remote sensing technology in geological survey, resources utilization, disaster management and environmental monitoring; (6) An introduction on the applications of medium-resolution and high-resolution remote sensing data for Central Asian Region; (7) Introductions by the participants to their countries' status and development in space science, technology and applications; (8) An overview to the Asia-Pacific multilateral cooperation projects and development plans. In addition, the participants will have the opportunity to practice the image processing technology under the instruction of Chinese experts.

Besides academic lectures, the training course will also include technical visits to some space research and application institutes and facilities in China for a more comprehensive understanding of remote sensing and its applications.
